The GBIF Secretariat is seeking proposals from interested contractors to conduct a systematic review of scientific literature published between 2020 and 2024 that relies on data from the GBIF network. This work will build on and extend previous efforts (Heberling et al. 2020, Astorga et al. 2022) while:

  • Conducting a comparative analysis of GBIF-enabled research during the periods 2016-2019 and 2020-2024
  • Developing, refining and agreeing on optimal methodology and additional questions, including investigating analytical approaches applied to GBIF-mediated data and its use in combination with other data sources
  • Carrying out a review of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 titles from the GBIF literature tracking programme
  • Preparing a report as first author of a submitted or submission-ready manuscript of the review paper

Applications should include a summary of the proposed approach, including a potential outline for the report, along with a full CV, publication list and other examples demonstrating relevant experience and qualifications within the past five years.

Application deadline: 2 April 2024
Expected start of contract: 1 July 2024
Fixed-fee contract value: €20,000

Interested candidates should refer to full call for proposals for complete details on the study and its background, timeline, budget and requirements.
